BLEEDING OF CONCRETE WITH ADMIXTURE, IS:9103-1999
Hi friends, you are welcomed in the world
of Civil
Allied Gyan. In this article I have explained about test for bleeding of concrete with admixture.
So please continue to the end & keep your love and support on me.
So please continue to the end & keep your love and support on me.
The water flocculated on the upper layer of
concrete with admixture is determined by specified method. This is known as the
test for bleeding of concrete with admixture.
- IS: 9103-1999
APPARATUS
REQUIRED FOR THE TEST:-
- Round-ended Tamping Rod of 16 mm diameter and 600 mm length
- Pipette used to draw off the bleed water from specimen
- Weighing Scale
- Graduated Jar of 100 cm³ capacity
- M.S. Basket
Apparatus for Bleeding Test of Concrete |
Sampling:- The
sample of freshly mixed concrete shall be obtained according to IS: 1199.
PROCEDURE
OF THE TEST:-
- At first, take sufficient quantity of freshly mixed concrete with admixture of known water content.
- After the mixing put the material in four layer in M.S. basket. Each layer shall be compacted by hand.
- Tamped it 25 strokes from rounded face in each layer & weight the material after the compaction of mix.
- After compacting the final layer, top surface should be level & smooth by troweling.
- Weight the mixed concrete with admixture along with empty basket. After the weighing, fix the empty basket in 30°C temperature and measured the top water time to time up to setting position.
- Take out water with the help of glass pipette and collect the water sample in Graduated Jar.
- Note down the accumulated quantity of water after each transfer.
CALCULATIONS:-
Accumulated bleeding water is expressed as
percentage of the net mixing water and it is calculated by the formula given
below:
Where,
Vw= Total mass of the bleeding water in kg,
w = Net mass of water in the batch in kg,
W = Total mass of the batch in kg and
S = The mass of sample in kg.
