AIR CONTENT TEST OF CONCRETE WITH ADMIXTURE or AIR CONTENT IN CONCRETE WITH ADMIXTURE, IS:1199-1959
Hi friends, you are welcomed in the world
of Civil Allied Gyan.
In this article I have explained about air content test of concrete with admixture.
By the help of this blog you can easily test the air content of concrete with admixture. So please continue to the end
& keep your love and support on me.
The percentage of air within pores of mix is calculated
by means of air entrant meter. This method is known as air content test of
concrete with admixture.
- IS: 1199- 1959
- Air-entrainment meter
- Tamping rod
- Planer
- Rubber hammer
- Rubber bulb
Air Content Test Apparatus |
PROCEDURE OF
THE TEST:-
- First of all, fill materials in air-entrant meter container in 3 layer.
- Stroke per layer 25 times with help of tamping rod.
- Finish the top surface of container with the help of planer to plane it.
- Fill the whole instrument by tighten nut & bolt.
- Fill the water inside container of air-entrant meter body up to cylindrical zero level rounded the whole body of the rubber. The inside entrapped air releases from concrete mix.
- Repeat the process with the help of rubber hammer to release entrapped air and again maintain the zero level with the help of water.
- Apply the
desired pressure (0.02 kg/cm²) with the help of rubber bulb release the pressure take
the reading.
CALCULATION:-
Calculate the
air content of the concrete as follows:
Where,
A = air content % by volume of concrete,
a1= apparent air content % by volume of
concrete,
g = aggregate correction factor, % by volume of concrete
